BUTTERWORTH BC, IPOH BC, AYER ITAM BC & SETIA ALAM BC START OFF THEIR AEON CREDIT PURPLE LEAGUE JUNIOR 2021/2022 CAMPAIGN IN STYLE

Butterworth BC's Lim Zhi Shin – Nicole Tan kept their cool as they saw off Falim BC’s Koh Xin En – Putri Nurirdina Sufiya (11-2, 11-6, 11-3) in the girls doubles.

KAMPAR (15 JANUARY 2022): Blistering Butterworth BC, Ipoh BC, Ayer Itam BC, and Setia Alam BC started off their AEON Credit Purple League Junior 2021/2022 (ACPLJ) campaign in style as they overpowered their respective opponents on the opening day of the 2nd Leg.

The northern badminton powerhouse started their ACPLJ campaign in style as they defeated Falim BC (12-3). Ipoh BC on the other hand overcame Penang Pesta BC (12-5) while Ayer Itam BC beat PGBC (15-3). In the final fixture, Setia Alam BC pulled out all the stops to beat Sungai Pinang BC (12-7) in a heated match which kept everyone in the venue on their toes.

The northern badminton powerhouse started their U-15 campaign with a bang as their girls singles Lim Zhi Shin swept aside Falim BC’s Koh Xin En (11-4, 11-3, 11-3) in a match that only lasted 14 minutes.

Butterworth BC continued to dominate their opponents in the second game as mixed doubles pair of Ng Wei Ming – Nicole Tan barely broke sweat when they defeated Arnold Dibble – Putri Nurirdina Sufiya (11-3, 11-5, 11-8).

In the boys singles, Tan Kean Wei maintained Butterworth’s BC winning streak and bagged the victory against Falim BC’s Diong Xhe Ming (11-3, 11-4, 11-4).

However, Falim BC’s pair of Chew Zu Yenn – Yap Chung Chuen stopped Butterworth BC in their tracks when they defeated E. Christopher Nelson – Ong Chin Hang (11-5, 11-5, 11-8) in the boys doubles.
In the final match, Lim Zhi Shin – Nicole Tan kept their cool as they saw off Falim BC’s Koh Xin En – Putri Nurirdina Sufiya (11-2, 11-6, 11-3) in the girls doubles.

Butterworth BC’s team manager, Tommy Lee Sau Wah was delighted with his team’s performance today. He said “I am pleased to see the players giving their best today. However, we still have a few games to be played and I hope that we can keep up this momentum”.

The ACPLJ will reach its conclusive leg at the Tops Arena Empire in Cheras from Jan 22-23 before the Grand Finals from Feb 19-20. The venue for the final stage has yet to be confirmed.
