Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) President, Datuk Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin, today paid a courtesy call to the Sultan of Selangor, His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj at Istana Bukit Kayangan, Shah Alam.HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah granted an audience to Datuk Haji Hamidin who took the opportunity to discuss current football issues, including the privatisation process of the FA (football association) to FC (football club).
Other topics discussed were the progress of the F:30 Roadmap, launched on 31st October 2018, as well as the plan to build the new FAM headquarters and a modern state-of-the-art national training centre in Putrajaya.Datuk Haji Hamidin who has known HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah since 1988, also discussed the impact COVID-19 had on the industry, as well as the national team’s preparation ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers that have been postponed to next year due to the pandemic.
HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was the FA of Selangor President in 2000 while Datuk Haji Hamidin served as the General Secretary. As one of the founding members of the Selangor Soccer Fan Club (SSFC), Datuk Haji Hamidin has known HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah since 1988.
Datuk Haji Hamidin served as FAS Executive Secretary in 1995 before he was made the General Secretary in 1998. Having served 18 years in FAS, Datuk Haji Hamidin was handpicked to fill the FAM General Secretary’s post in 2013 before he was installed as the FAM president in 2018.
In the courtesy visit, Datuk Haji Hamidin also discussed the grassroots development program in Selangor which are in line with the FAM SupaRimau Charter.Football Association of Selangor (FAS) Soccer School recently achieved a milestone after they were given the gold status accreditation under the SupaRimau Charter.Also present were FAM General Secretary, Stuart Ramalingam and MFL Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ab Ghani Hassan.
