PETALING JAYA: Former Ketereh MP Annuar Musa is among the three Umno divisional leaders who were sacked by the party last night, say sources.
Yesterday, it was reported that Umno sacked a division chief and the Wanita Umno chiefs of two divisions for badmouthing the party and supporting its rivals in the 15th general election (GE15).
However, Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi who informed the media of the sacking did not disclose the identities of the party leaders.
Several Umno sources have now revealed that Annuar, the former Barisan Nasional secretary-general, is the division chief who was sacked.
Annuar, the Ketereh Umno division chief, has been with Umno since 1979. He was dropped from BN’s GE15 line up.
Annuar has in the past been labelled as “Bersatu-friendly” by Umno supporters over his push to unite the party with PAS and Bersatu.
“The other two who were sacked were the Wanita chiefs of Arau and Maran divisions,” said one source.
Umno’s former Arau and Maran MPs, Shahidan Kassim and Ismail Abd Muttalib, were also dropped from BN’s GE15 line up.
The duo ended up defending their seats under the Perikatan Nasional banner.
“More (leaders) will be sacked (in time),” said the source.
