KUALA LUMPUR (3 OCTOBER 2019): Team Malaysia heads towards glory when they compete in the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games to be held at the Vallelunga Circuit, Rome, Italy from 1st – 3rd November 2019.

The FIA Motorsport Games 2019, which was inspired by a successful event at last year’s GT Festival in Bahrain, is strongly tipped to be an annual affair. Six categories will be featured in this year’s edition namely GT Cup, Touring Car Cup, Formula 4 Cup, Drifting Cup, Karting Slalom Cup and Digital Cup.

Team Malaysia will be competing in two categories. Experienced drivers Adrian D’Silva and Weiron Tan will be behind the wheel of the Porsche GT3 run by Earl Bamber Motorsport in the GT Cup category while Mior Muhamad Hafiz, winner of the recently concluded eRacing Grand Prix SEA, will be competing in the Digital Cup.

Alex Yoong, who was appointed Team Manager by the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM), is determined to keep the drivers in high spirits and urges them to make full use of this opportunity to put Malaysia on the world motor racing map and make the country proud.

“First of all, I would like to thank MAM for appointing me Team Manager of Team Malaysia which will be competing in the FIA Motorsports Games next month. This is a proud and amazing opportunity for the drivers to represent their country and who knows, maybe one day we could even see Motorsport in the Olympics” said Alex.

“I am convinced D’Silva and Weiron will do well in the GT Cup category considering that both of them have good experience in GT racing. “As for Mior, he was outstanding throughout the eRacing Grand Prix SEA competition which concluded last month where the 31-year-old was crowned overall champion. I am confident Mior will be one to watch in Rome next month.”

Drivers from 39 countries have so far confirmed their entries with a representative for at least one discipline in this first edition of the Olympic-style event where gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in each competition which will contribute towards the final medal tally.

Team Malaysia will be managed by Axle Motorsport, which was founded by Alex and is starting to gain wide popularity among motor racing enthusiasts.
