Strawberry jam is commonly enjoyed in many households, but not everyone knows it is very easy to make. All you need is fresh strawberries, sugar and lemon juice for a delicious breakfast preserve.
The best part is, this recipe does not use pectin, a setting agent, making this one of the healthiest jam recipes available. So why not make full use of your strawberries and whip up a batch?
•500g fresh strawberries
•1 cup sugar, or to taste
•2 tablespoons lemon juice
•Slice and crush the strawberries. Set aside.
•Heat up a saucepan and add the strawberries and sugar. Stir over medium heat until the strawberries take on a watery, jam-like consistency.
•Lower the heat and simmer. Add lemon juice and allow the liquid to reduce until it reaches your desired consistency.
•Turn off the heat and let cool.
•Transfer the jam into an airtight jar or container.
•Store in the fridge until ready to use.
Tip: Strawberry jam keeps well in the freezer. Simply allow it to thaw before using.
