Durian is said to be rich in vitamins B, C and E, as well as calcium and iron. However, as delicious and nutritious as the king of fruits is, you can have too much of a good thing.
Here are some tips if you’re planning on going on a durian binge.
1. Drink lots of water
Durian is a heaty fruit that can cause symptoms like sore throat. It is also high in glucose, which will cause dehydration, so make sure you drink lots of water. Adding a bit of salt will help to replenish your electrolytes.
2. Eat more greens
Add more green, leafy vegetables to your meals after your durian buffet session. Kale and collard greens can be beneficial for digestion and controlling blood sugar levels.
3. Have some mangosteens
The royal mangosteen has anti-inflammatory properties and is a great fruit to pair with durian. It is said to also be effective in maintaining blood sugar levels.
4. Drink lemon water
Too much durian can cause bloating and can be very uncomfortable. Lemon is good for your digestive system and can help get rid of bloat.
5. Avoid oily food
Avoid oily food for a while as it could cause indigestion. Consider minimising the portions of your subsequent meals so you do not put too much pressure on your digestive system.
