PETALING JAYA: Nur Dhabitah Sabri produced another consistent showing at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre in the women’s 3m springboard final today but ultimately fell short to finish outside the top three.

Her outing in the semifinal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games yesterday was her best effort in the event since bagging bronze with a career-best 344.40 points at the London leg of the World Series two years ago.

She proceeded to pick up from where she left off yesterday and remained cool and collected across all five dives to stay in touch at the top of the leaderboard today.

Despite not being a medal favourite, Dhabitah initially went toe-to-toe with American Krysta Palmer for third as Chinese defending champion Shi Tingmao and compatriot Wang Han pulled away in the top two spots.

The always-smiling 22-year-old saved the best for last with her forward 2.5 somersaults 1 twist but by then she had fallen too far behind to beat Palmer to a podium finish.

Dhabitah amassed 326.15 points, 17.6 less than the bronze medallist.

Shi grabbed gold with 383.50 points, followed by Wang (348.75) and Palmer (343.75).
