JSA UNITED STANDS TALL AT JSA ARENA

The mouth-watering U-17 final which took place infront of 5,000 spectators saw homesters JSA United in smashing form as they brushed aside fancied Johor Darul Ta’zim 6-5 in a penalty shootout.

SETIA ALAM (17 MAY 2022): The maiden 2022 Milo Challenger Cup lived up to its top billing as JSA United clinched the tournament in style at the JSA Arena in Setia Alam.

The mouth-watering U-17 final which took place infront of 5,000 spectators saw homesters JSA United in smashing form as they brushed aside fancied Johor Darul Ta’zim 6-5 in a penalty shootout. The match was forced to be decided in a penalty shootout as both teams failed to break the deadlock in normal regulation time.

JSA United’s head coach Lafizulnizam Abd Latip commended on his team’s historic success by acknowledging his player’s consistency throughout the tournament and said, “The boys were consistent on the field and I’m happy that they have carried out their duties well as planned while maintaining their cool despite the heavy downpour.”

JSA Academy’s Co-Owner, Steven Lim who was present at the venue was thrilled to watch the young talents in action and congratulated the finalists. He said, “I would like to thank all the players for giving their best in this tournament.”

He added “throughout this tournament, I have seen some of the best young footballers in our country displaying signs of maturity well beyond their age. I have confidence that they will go far in their footballing career.”

He also thanked “Milo Malaysia” for being the main sponsor of the competition. He said, “We appreciate the faith of our sponsor Milo Malaysia and their support to organize the Milo Challenger Cup tournament this year”.

The afternoon U-14 fixture on the final day of competition also saw heavyweights Johor Darul Ta’zim overcoming tournament favourites TSS Selangor Yellow in a narrow 1-0 victory. Elite winger Izham Aiman scored an outstanding goal in the dying moments of the game to secure Johor Darul Ta’zim its crucial U-14 Milo Challenger Cup title.

As the Milo Challenger Cup draws its curtains today, grassroot football fans should not fret. Milo and JSA Academy will be teaming up again for the inaugural ‘MILO Junior Champions League’ scheduled in July and September this year. The top 12 Milo Challenger Cup teams from each category will advance to the ‘MILO Junior Champions League’.
