The conquest for the ultimate glory begins on the 20th of November with Christopher Raj and former national referee, Subkhiddin Mohd Salleh set to render their expertise in the upcoming 2022 Qatar World Cup. This edition will be the pair’s second assignment together following their involvement in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Eight venues, including Lusail Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Stadium 974, and Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, will host the illustrious competition.
The opening Group G match between Switzerland and Cameroon which is scheduled to be held at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah will mark Christopher’s first duty as a media officer in this year’s edition.
Christopher had previously been chosen to serve as a media officer for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India, the 2015 Asian Cup in Australia, the 2019 Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates, the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and the 2021 and 2022 Asian Champions League.
This year’s edition will also witness Christopher performing his diligent duties in nine additional matches to be held in the Middle Eastern nation, of Qatar.
Meanwhile, Subkhiddin is prepared to commemorate his fourth World Cup duty having served as the fourth official for the first time in the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa. He further went on to perform his role as a referee technical instructor in the World Cups held in Brazil in 2014 and Russia in 2018.
In addition to being a technical instructor for FIFA and the Korean Football Association, Subkhiddin will be in charge of organising the referee’s technical preparation, evaluating the referee’s performance, explaining technical concepts to the players and officials of the opposing teams, and providing feedback on the referee’s performance throughout the competition.
They’re both expected to depart for Qatar on the 10th of November and return home following the World Cup competition.
