KUALA LUMPUR (10 NOVEMBER 2022): Royal Selangor and Axle Sports are proud to announce a partnership for eRacing GP as the regional sim racing tournament grows from strength to strength and continues to uncover some of the best new racing talent in Southeast Asia.

This year, eRacing GP and Royal Selangor saw their partnership grow over three tiers of tournaments – the popular Global Edition which sees sim racers of all levels competing in four classes according to their skillsets, the Sprint Edition which is split into Pro and Am categories and the Endurance Edition which attracts the best drivers from across the region who compete in GT3 cars in Pro and Pro-Am championships.

The 10th season of Global Edition kicked off on the 4th of November while the final races of the Endurance Edition and Sprint Edition take place on the 10th and 16th of December respectively.

“We have been amazed how drivers have progressed through the ranks in eRacing GP. Those that started as novices when we launched in 2020 are now winning races in the premiere classes while others who have raced with us and trained with Axle Sports have gone on to do exceptionally well in international races. It has also been very rewarding to see sim racers who started out with eRacing GP achieve our objective of virtual to reality, taking the skills they have learnt sim racing and applying them on track to win real-life races.” said Alex Yoong, founder of eRacing GP and Axle Sports.

Some of these success stories include Naquib Azlan, who started sim racing in 2020, and went on to win the Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival Vios Challenge Rookie Championship in 2021 and the Sporting Class Championship in 2022. His brother Nabil Azlan has followed in his older brother’s footsteps, also transitioning from virtual to reality, winning the Rookie Championship this year.

eRacing GP racers were also seen at the recently concluded FIA Motorsport Games in Marseilles, France where each driver represented their country in what is hailed as the “Olympics of Motorsport”. Alister Yoong represented Malaysia in the KCMG Formula 4 category while Naquib raced in the Fanatec Esports championship. Other eRacing GP alumni spotted were Aleef Hamilton from Singapore, Philippa Boquida from Australia, Jonathan Wong from Hong Kong and Presley Martono from Indonesia.

“We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Axle Sports, which first began in 2019. This collaboration is extremely valuable to us, and we are happy to be a part of the initiative that champions young talents and nurtures honest sportsmanship in a healthy and supportive environment,” expressed Yong Yoon Li, Managing Director of Royal Selangor.
eRacing GP winners in all categories will receive custom-made trophies sponsored by Royal Selangor.
