Kogileswaran set for a Korean fairytale

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian playmaker R. Kogileswaran has officially become the first Malaysian to play in the Korean League.

The 24-year-old confirmed on his social media pages that he is joining the Korean division two club Chungbuk Cheongju, signing a one-year deal.

“I have signed a one-year contract with K2 club Chungbuk Cheongju FC on 10th Jan. Arrived in Bangkok yesterday (Jan 12) to join the club’s pre-season training,” he said.

“Looking forward to this new challenge and will give my best to make Malaysia proud.”

Kogileswaran has played for Malaysia eight times, scoring two goals. He was also a key player for the Malaysia Under-19 and 23 teams in the past.

Before joining the Korean club, he played for Petaling Jaya City in the Super League.
