TAR UC advocates the importance of self-development through TAR-U-Care “It’s All Care”

Lectures and students dress down together on Fridays to advocate and foster discipline among TAR UC students.

Today, education has broadened its horizons and extended its reach and coverage since ancient times. With technology literally vanquishing the field of education, learning is no longer confined to the walls of the classrooms. On the other hand, outdoor learning is one of the biggest parts of education. It is a broad term that includes college projects, environmental education, team building, leadership training, and plenty more that is about problem-solving. By having to solve problems, students are able to practice learning rather than memorizing.

The current education system has provided the right atmosphere for students to develop their soft skills and empowers them to be critical thinkers, lifelong learners, change agents and world leaders. Atmospheres / Platforms such as co-curricular activities allows and encourages students to learn by trying out a new sport or joining campaigns and events, and this can result in the discovery of a new skill or talent that will facilitate the development of various domains of mind and personality such as intellectual development, emotional development, social development, moral development and aesthetic development.

Quoted by Nelson Mandela in one of his famous speeches, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” With that said, student’s activities give a platform for youth to showcase their innovative ideas. By organizing campaigns, students are able to use their utmost creativity in highlighting the issues that they wish to address to the public. As a matter of fact, it encourages students to rack their brains and brainstorm to provide solutions for any existing substantial problem while working with the public engagement process.

As brainstorming involves the values of teamwork, it incorporates students to become more efficient and productive hence it allows the workload to be shared, reducing the pressure on individuals, and ensure tasks are completed within a set time frame. Moreover, public advocacy is also one of the ways for students to develop morally and provide opportunities to grow righteously. As the youth community may somehow involve in some of the on-going societal issues, campaigns allow students to realize their mistakes and increase their level of concern towards the community.

Students are made to target their own community’s problems, and it encourages their peers to be the problem solver and not the trouble maker. In the current era, students are involved in many communal problems despite knowing the consequences of their actions. Via proper education regarding the communal problems, students will be able to analyze and correlate the impact of their current decisions-actions-and their future. This informs them whether to undertake or forgo an action that will have repercussions in the future, including actions of a criminal nature. In regards to this matter, excessive electricity usage, water wastage, dress code ethics, vandalism and parking mannerisms are the common issues faced by the community. It is important for students to care on all these issues before it elevates to become a serious communal crisis in the future.

The Care Ambassadors: Committee members become the care ambassadors of TAR-U-Care “It’s All Care” campaign by spreading the awareness in upholding the proper actions and good attitudes in campus and the society.

In order to take the first steps to reduce all these issues, Year 3 Students of Bachelor in Public Relations have taken the initiative in organizing a campaign named TAR-U-Care “It’s All Care” to influence youth to take their first steps to make the change. Thus, this campaign is to spread awareness to students that they play an important role and have the responsibility to solve all the issues.
