BANK SIMPANAN NASIONAL (BSN) PROVIDES DIGITAL LEARNING ACCESS TO B40 STUDENTS THROUGH THEIR CERDIK PROGRAMME

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) has contributed RM2.5 million for the Cerdik programme, as one of its initiatives in providing digital access such as laptops, mobile tablets, and data connections to students from low-income families.

The programme is part of the Government Linked Companies (GLCs) and Government Linked Investment Companies’ (GLICs) corporate social responsibility (CSR), in cooperation with the Education Ministry and Finance Ministry.

BSN chief executive Jay Khairil said the financial contribution aims to benefit more than 1,300 students from 16 schools in Perak, Selangor, Pahang, Kelantan, Johor, Kedah, Negri Sembilan and Sarawak.

“We are aware that learning institutions are focusing more on the digital learning model during this Covid-19 pandemic.
“Through this contribution, we aim to help students from the B40 families in bridging the online learning gaps.

“We also hope that this programme will grant (underprivileged) students’ equal opportunities to access quality education like other students,” he said in a statement, today.

The Cerdik programme, with Yayasan Hasanah as its secretariat, is one of BSN’s ongoing efforts in providing basic schooling needs for underprivileged students.

“This effort is also in line with our CSR value, which is the education core under the BSN Care.

“We are always committed to conducting programmes such as ‘Jom to School Spectacular’ (JTS Spectacular) and ‘Murid Spec-tacular’ programmes for underprivileged students,” he said.

Members of the public can log on to BSN’s website at www.bsn.com.my for more information on BSN Care programmes.
