TOP GLOVE BADMINTION CLUB MAINTAINS ITS WINNING STREAK IN THE BIZ LINK PROPERTIES PURPLE LEAGUE CORPORATE 2021/2022

The men’s doubles pair of Lim Jihn Yih – Lim Jun Yang initiated an inspiring start for Top Glove Badminton Club when they overcame Dr KO's Dato Lim Choon Seng – Lim Loong Meng 11-10, 11-9, 5-11,11-10 in the opening game.

KUALA LUMPUR (13 AUGUST 2022): The hunt for the ultimate glory continues in the the Biz Link Properties Purple League Corporate 2021/2022 (BLPLC) as Top Glove Badminton Club maintains its winning momentum for the second consecutive week by defeating their renowned opponents, Dr KO (12-5) in an intense match which took place at the Setapak Badminton Centre today.

The men’s doubles pair of Lim Jihn Yih – Lim Jun Yang initiated an inspiring start for the “world’s largest natural rubber glove manufacturers” when they overcame their opponent’s Dato Lim Choon Seng – Lim Loong Meng 11-10, 11-9, 5-11,11-10 in the opening game.

Top Glove Badminton Club continued with their smashing form as Lee Pui Min – Lyddia Cheah Yi Yu put aside Dhami Tu La Ram – Tiffany Chase 9-11, 11-3, 11-8, 11-2 in 20 minutes in the mixed doubles category while Dato Jack Koh – Leong Wei Boon handed Dr KO their third straight defeat when their men’s doubles players walked out of the game due to uncertain circumstances.

The sudden walkover by Dr KO’s men’s doubles pair resulted Dato Jack Koh – Leong Wei Boon an automatic three sets win 11-0, 11-0, 11-0.

The tables were quickly turned in the fourth match when Dr KO’s women’s doubles pair Ng Sin Er-Tan Chew Ping stimulated a comeback for their team by overcoming Top Glove Badminton Club’s Daphine Ng-Lee Kah Yee

Stalwart, Soo Teck Zhi and his men’s doubles partner Khim Bahadur Pariyar ended Dr.KO’s day on a high note as they cruised past Top Glove’s Cheam June Wei – Lim Jin Feng 11-4,11-8,11-6. However, the pair’s triumphant victory couldn’t resist their team from losing in the overall game 12-5.

Top Glove Badminton Club’s player cum team manager, Lim Jihn Yih was present at the hall today and was delighted with his team’s performance. He said “It was a great win for us, and we believe we can achieve our target of reaching the grand finals. It is an honour for us to be part of this competition as we can battle against the top corporates in the country.”

Meanwhile, “insurance powerhouse” AIG edged Sports Club China Press in a mouth-watering fixture, which saw them winning the match 9-7 in style. The limelight was stolen by AIG’s Muhammad Nazaryn and Tan Jia Wei as they trashed Goh Yung Seng – Ng Ka Yoon 11-8,11-9,11-6 to secure their team’s victory in the men’s doubles category.

AIG’s Tan Jia Wei who recently participated in the Bulgarian International Open feels honoured to be a part of a prestigious tournament like the BLPLC while expressing his thoughts regarding his fitness.

“I’m grateful to AIG for trusting and including me in this wonderful team. I’m happy to witness that my fitness level is on par with the rest, I can’t wait to play better than this in my upcoming match,” said Jia Wei

The second week of the competition will conclude with AEON Credit Service facing Perbadanan Putrajaya and Senheng battling Oriental Real Estate respectively at 8:00 pm. The top 3 teams from each group will then proceed to play in the knockout stages.

The second edition of this competition is scheduled to be held for two consecutive weekends in a round robin format from the 6th – 14th August while the final round will take place on the 20th and 21st August at Sports Arena Sentosa, Kuala Lumpur.
