MALAYSIA PURPLE LEAGUE RETURNS WITH ITS FLAGSHIP EVENT

World class players to heat up the action at SENHENG redONE Purple League Professional 2022

KUALA LUMPUR (7 SEPTEMBER 2022): After a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the SENHENG redONE Purple League 2022 will be held at Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam with a total of RM 500,000 prize money at stake.

The Malaysia Purple League made the official tournament announcement of the sixth edition of the competition at a press conference held at the Gardens Ballroom, Mid Valley in Kuala Lumpur today.

Also present at the press conference was the Secretary General for Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dato’ Jana Santhiran, Executive Chairman of SENHENG, Lim Kim Heng, Chief Executive Officer of redONE, Mohammad Farid Yunus and Chief Operating Officer of Malaysia Purple League, Ho Khek Mong.

Succeeding in five successive seasons, the flagship event is on a level way above the rest with the continuous support of the local and international fans, the vital sponsorship of various companies and participation of world-class players.

The SENHENG redONE Purple League is not only the players’ tournament of choice but it’s where champions are made. This is what the SENHENG redONE Purple League, Malaysia’s premier club badminton league, is all about. The league also holds pride for moulding current Malaysia badminton stalwarts such as Aaron Chia, Soh Wooi Yik, Chen Tang Jie, Man Wei Chong, Anna Cheong and Teoh Mei Xing while upholding its initiative by aiding independent players such as Cheam June Wei, Soniia Cheah, Mohd Azriyn, Goh Soon Huat, Shevon Lai to prevail in their badminton careers.

Since its inception in 2014, Malaysia Purple League has the envious reputation of developing young talent and providing the right platform for emerging stars to gain invaluable experience doing battle against the world’s best in a remarkable tournament.

Furthermore, the Malaysia Purple League platform has also helped many district and local badminton clubs hence it has now evolved in aiding over 60 badminton clubs across the nation with the sole aim to assist and nurture the development of upcoming junior badminton players. This therefore proves that the Senheng RedOne Purple League plays an important role as one of the main contributors to the development of badminton in Malaysia.

Known for its prestigious status, the clubs competing in the SENHENG redONE Purple League 2022 have no problems securing the services of some the world’s best badminton players to represent them throughout the season.

Some of the big names that have graced the previous editions are Datuk Lee Chong Wei, Chou Tien Chen, Zhao Yunlei, Tai Tzu Ying, Aaron Chia, Soh Wooi Yik, Christinna Pedersen, Markis Kido, Tommy Sugiarto and Lee Yong Dae to name a few.

To whet that fans’ appetite, the SENHENG redONE Purple League (SRPL) will kick off with 8 teams (Ampang Jaya Badminton Club, Petaling BC , Puchong United BC , Serdang BC , Vietnam Ho Chi Minh City , Indonesia Chandra Wijaya Team , Singapore Badminton Team , Thailand Bangkok Team) having confirmed their entries. On top of that, Chou Tien Chen, Nguyen Tien Minh, Terry Hee Yong Kai, Loh Kean Hean, and Jessica Tan Wei Han are among the top shuttlers expected to battle in this edition’s competition.

Ho Khek Mong, Chief Operating Officer of Malaysia Purple League said: “SENHENG redONE Purple League will be entering its sixth season, and to be able to reach this stage, is not an easy task. With the support of the fans, sponsors, media, and Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), we can safely say that SENHENG redONE Purple League has reached a new level.

“Of course, this league will drive Malaysia forward where badminton is concerned. We also anticipate never-ending support from all parties because the success of the league in this country depends very much on that kind of backing which puts it at an exceptional level in badminton.”

He added: “We at Malaysia Purple League would like to thank the title sponsor, SENHENG, BP Diagnostic Centre, Cloone Corporation, and Resorts World Genting for backing our initiative to ensure that the development of badminton in our country will not slow down. I am sure this partnership will continue to flourish for the benefit of all parties concerned in our quest to make badminton in Malaysia great again.

Meanwhile, Executive Chairman of SENHENG, Lim Kim Heng confirmed that his company will always give its full support towards all sporting activities in Malaysia.

“SENHENG has played its role and provided full support to ensure that the sporting activities we are involved in run smoothly. We feel that it is a part of our responsibility because sports will always bring glory and pride to our country,” he said.

“We are fully committed to backing the SENHENG redONE Purple League and all it stands for because we believe that our values are synonymous with those of the Malaysia Purple League. That being the case, we are continuously looking to strengthen our relationship in every way and grow together as a united front,” added Kim Heng.

On the other hand, redONE’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohammad Farid Yunus believes that the inception of the SENHENG redONE Purple League is significant to the nation and hopes for better recognition from the Malaysian public.

“At redONE, we always determined to support such an initiative with a positive aura, and I hope through this sponsorship, badminton and especially Malaysia Purple League, will gain more support from all concerned,” said Mohammad Farid.

The sixth edition of the SENHENG redONE Purple League is scheduled to take off at Malawati Stadium, Shah Alam on 1st to 7th of October. The Grand Finals will be held at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting on 8th to 9th of October.
