Stalwarts are expected to raise the bar in the sixth edition of SRPLP
KUALA LUMPUR (14 SEPTEMBER 2022): Following the success in organizing the Biz Link Properties Purple League Corporate 2021/2022 in August, Malaysia Purple League is now back with its flagship event “SENHENG redONE Purple League Professional”, another prestigious competition which targets participation from prominent local and international badminton teams.
Succeeding in five successive seasons, the flagship event is on a level way above the rest with the continuous support of the local and international fans, the vital sponsorship of various companies and participation of world-class players.
Eight aspiring teams are set to take the centre stage as Malaysia Purple League vowed to provide a competitive platform for local and international badminton players to broaden their badminton career and exposures.
Ho Khek Mong, Chief Operating Officer of Malaysia Purple League said: “SENHENG redONE Purple League will be entering its sixth season, and to be able to reach this stage, is not an easy task. With the support of the fans, sponsors, media, and Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), we can safely say that SENHENG redONE Purple League has reached a new level.
“Of course, this league will drive Malaysia forward where badminton is concerned. We also anticipate never-ending support from all parties because the success of the league in this country depends very much on that kind of backing which puts it at an exceptional level in badminton.”
Being the favourites in the top 8 teams that will be competing in this year’s edition, Puchong United BC’s team manager Irina Inosemtzeva said her team are all fired-up to sustain the SENHENG redONE Purple League Professional title. “Our team has been training vigorously for the past six months for this tournament. And with the support of our talented players, we are determined to once again bring home this prestigious SENHENG redONE Purple League Professional title.”
Elite club Ampang Jaya BC have also sounded an early warning of their aspirations to go far in this tournament. An upbeat team manager Voon Siaw Yee who is well known in the badminton scene for developing and training many local badminton talents across the nation through various badminton development programs, said her charges are not here to make up the numbers. “We are capable of pulling a surprise in this tournament. I believe with the strength of our talents; we can progress to the greater heights.”
The SENHENG redONE Purple League (SRPLP) will kick off with 8 teams with Chou Tien Chen, Nguyen Tien Minh, Terry Hee Yong Kai, Loh Kean Hean, and Jessica Tan Wei Han among the top shuttlers expected to battle in this edition’s competition.
2018 champions , Ampang Jaya will face Petaling Badminton Club , Indonesia Chandra Wijaya Team , and Singapore Badminton Team in Group A while “defending champions” Puchong United BC will fancy their chances against Serdang Badminton Club , Sena Bangkok Club and Ho Chi Minh City Badminton Club in Group B.
The top 2 teams from each group will then proceed to play in the grand finale.
The sixth edition of the SENHENG redONE Purple League is scheduled to take off at Malawati Stadium, Shah Alam on 1st to 6th of October. The Grand Finals will be held at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting on 8th to 9th of October.
