JSA Academy and Petaling Perdana emerged victorious in the battle of football academy giants
KUALA LUMPUR (26 SEPTEMBER 2022): The inaugural season of the MILO Junior Champions League closed its curtains today with five teams emerging as champions in their respective categories.
The tournament, which is a continuation of the maiden MILO Challenger Cup held in June this year, saw the best 12 teams from each age category (U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-17) showing off their prowess with an aim to clinch the ultimate prize.
The jaw-dropping U-17 final which took place infront of an incredible crowd saw the ever dominant homesters JSA Academy in smashing form as they brushed aside fancied Red Hawks in a one-sided match.
The limelight of the match was stolen by JSA Academy’s wonderkid Muhammad Sufian Azim as he inspired a dominating performance for his team by contributing a brace to destruct Red Hawks 4-0.
JSA Academy’s head coach Lafizulnizam Abd Latip complimented on his team’s historic success by acknowledging his player’s consistency throughout the tournament and said, “The boys were fantastic on and off the field and it has been a privilege for me to coach and manage them. I’m happy that they have carried out their duties well as planned and we’re looking forward for more successes.”
Having nourished Malaysians for over 70 years with the goodness of malt, MILO which is synonymous with its passionate involvement in sports, expressed their commitment to further stimulate the development of grassroot sports.
MILO Malaysia’s Marketing Manager, Kerwin Lim commended on the joint-initiative between MILO and JSA Academy in laying the foundation of this tournament and said, “MILO always believe that sports is a great teacher and youngsters can gain many useful values in life through sports.
On top of that, MILO and JSA Academy share a common goal to empower and energise the young football talents to strive for success in the early stages of their life hence we’re delighted to be collaborating with JSA Sports Academy in organizing such a successful tournament.”
JSA Academy’s Co-Owner, Steven Lim who was also present at the venue was thrilled to watch the young talents in action and congratulated the finalists. He said, “I would like to thank all the players for giving their best in this tournament.”
He also thanked “MILO Malaysia” for being the main sponsor of the competition. He said, “We appreciate the faith of our sponsor MILO Malaysia and their support to organize the inaugural MILO Junior Champions League tournament this year”.
Meanwhile, the U-14 fixture on the final day of competition also saw heavyweights Petaling Perdana overcoming tournament favourites Lynx Academy in a fiery 2-0 victory. Khalish Fakhrey’s 12 goals contribution throughout the campaign for Petaling Perdana was acknowledged in style as he was conferred with the top scorer trophy in the U-14 category.
“With the blessings of the almighty, I’m glad for playing a significant role in my team’s conquest throughout this tournament and I believe that we have the capabilities to achieve more greater sucesses in the future” said the jubilant Khalish Fakhrey.
As the MILO Junior Champions League reached its climax today, grassroot football fans should not fret. MILO and JSA Academy will be teaming up again for the upcoming ‘MILO Junior Champions League Season B’ scheduled in October this year. The tournament is set to introduce new divisions (premier and championship) for the participating teams including a category for a possible girls’ team participation.
