KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia qualified for football’s Under-17 Asian Cup after defeating hosts Indonesia 5-1 in Bogor today.
Malaysia, coached by Osmera Omaros, emerged as winners of Group B with 10 points from four games.
The young Tigers were really fierce in the first half, scoring five goals during that period itself.
On target for Malaysia were Zainurhakimi Zain (17th minute), Arami Wafiy (19th and 39th), Anjasmirza Saharudin (24th) and Afiq Danish Hasniruddin (27th).
Indonesia scored their consolation goal in injury time through Arkhan Kaka Putra.
Malaysia had earlier beaten Palestine (2-0), United Arab Emirates (3-2) and drew 1-1 against Guam.
Malaysia will join Japan, Qatar, Iran, Uzbekistan, Australia and Vietnam in the Under-17 Asian Cup proper next year.
