Selangor maintains its unbeaten record in Division 2

KUALA LUMPUR (25 SEPTEMBER 2019): Selangor maintained an unbeaten record in their TNB Tun Razak campaign by drawing 2-2 against Negeri Sembilan at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Thursday.

Selangor, however, had to come back from behind as Muhammad Amer Runnizar and Muhammad Zulfitri scored to secure a point for Prakash Subramaniam’s side.

Meanwhile, Najmi Farizal Jazlan’s sole goal through a penalty corner in the 14th minute helped Perlis defeat ATM 1-0.

Selangor dominates Division 2 with 13 points from 5 matches and will face Perlis for the title match on Saturday.

Kedah and Kelantan each secured a point in their match through a 4-4 score line while Mohamad Ariff Aiman Md Junid became the savior for Kelantan with a last minute equalizer.

Moving on to Division 1, Pahang defeated PDRM 4-1 in their 5th place classification match. This victory guaranteed Pahang the 5th position in this year’s edition.

Ismail Abu, Shafiq Ikhmal Daniel Suzaini and Mohammad Haikal Ridwan Osman were among those who scored for Pahang while PDRM responded through Baljit Singh’s penalty shot.

Defending champions Perak had to settle at the 7thplace after defeating Penang 3-1 in a penalty shootout.  The match was forced to a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw between the teams.  

In the women’s category, Melaka finished their campaign in the seventh place after defeating Johor 2-1.

Nur Aisyah Yaacob and Norshafiqha Ishak confidently executed their penalties to secure a victory for Dakip Singh’s side.

Meanwhile, the 7th and 8th classification match witnessed Terengganu record a  2-1 victory over Penang thanks to goals from Nurul Norma Syafila Mazlan and Auni Atikah Gahni.
